Because of where it is installed on the window it sets up a static (or dead) airspace to create an insulation barrier. The patented solar film not only reflects the heat back to its source, it also insulates the glass.

It actually cuts out 75% of the harmful BTU rays in the summer. It even increases the efficiency of Low E glass, by reflecting the BTU rays before they reach your living space. In winter, Thermal Shields keep the heat that is generated inside the room from escaping through the glass. Less energy is used to heat & cool, saving big dollars on fuel bills.
